Understanding Your Content Matrix

A Content Matrix is a roadmap and strategy for building your website.

What is the Content Matrix?

A Content Matrix is an aggregate of all of the pages on a website. These pages shown within the CM are both current website pages as well as researched new suggested pages based on researched competitor sites and pages in the same space or industry.

In order to identify which pages are most important to your business, you'll want to elaborate on which markets, services, and products should be prioritized based on what your business serves first and foremost. 

How to read your content matrix

Your content matrix document is color-coded based on the following keys, the Maturity Level of the page and the development status of the page.

Page Development Key:

The page development key is used for new pages being created that do not yet exist, have content, or are not yet developed and published on your website. Each color represents a step in our process of creating a new page that needs to be completed in order to get a page up on your website.

Content Matrix Exercise for a full and optimized website:

  • What are your priority website pages?
  • What are the 5-10 most important industries you want to work in?
  • What are the 5-10 most important services you offer?
  • Do you have products and can they be grouped into categories for landing pages?
