Page Descriptions: Providing Context for Keyword Research

What is a page description document and how does it help Industrial Marketing build your page?

As part of our process of building a new page or optimizing an existing page, selecting appropriate actionable keywords is a high priority.

Businesses are complex, and you know your business best!  Filling out the Page Description tab in your Content Matrix helps our SEO experts research the best keywords for the services and products you offer without the guesswork.

The document is easy to fill out. We will set it up with the page name, if the page exists or if it is new, and if it is a service page or product category. All you will need to do is add a couple of sentences about that page, using terms that your industry uses.

Our team will set up the following in the document:

Page Stage

This lets our team know if this is a new page or an existing page. We can review currently ranking keywords for existing page but will need to start fresh with new pages.

Page Name

What is the current topic or name of this page? This helps guide us to the correct page to work on.

Page Type

This helps us choose modifier keywords for the correct page. For example, service pages tend to incorporate the words service or solution to single the page intent to Google and visitors, whereas a Product Category page might include keywords of the type of products you offer.

Page URL

This is for existing pages on your website so we know we are working on the same page as the description provided.

Your Task

Once we have set up this document for you, all you will need to do is provide a page description for our SEO Experts. Please be descriptive and use language that you and your customers use when discussing your service or product category. It can be a short descriptive sentence or two, or a paragraph. Whatever you think will help our team find the BEST keywords for your pages.
